NEW CHRISTIAN BIBLE READING PLAN

Welcome to today's Obedience Challenge! We're beginning an epic, 90 day Journey through the Gospels, learning to love and follow Jesus as his disciples.

The Scripture reading for today is: Matthew 2

TODAY'S COMMAND TO OBEY:

Yesterday and today, we're looking at the command of Jesus in Matthew 4:17, “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."  How can a Christian truly keep this command?

We're spending 2 days to focus on each command. On the 2nd day of focusing on that command, I don't teach on it, I just cover a quick note of explanation on what you read today. Each day of the Obedience Challenge contains these things:

  • 3-4 minutes of teaching

  • 1 minute of praising God for the command

  • 1 minute of repentance over Jesus' command

  • 1 minute of listening to the Holy Spirit

  • 1 minute of asking God for help in obeying the command Jesus gave

How can I become a disciple of Jesus?

"Discipleship is the process of becoming who Jesus would be, if he was you." - Dallas Willard

Discipleship means learning about Jesus in order to imitate and become like him. If you are a brand new Christian, or even if you've been around church a lot, you need to become a disciple of Jesus, not just a fan.

NewStart Discipleship is a program to help new Christians become disciples of Jesus -- to be transformed and grow in knowledge of the Bible, what Jesus is like, and imitating the holiness of Jesus.

New to walking with Jesus? Want advice on growing as a Christian?

This journal is designed to create "anchor habits" for you as a new follower of Jesus. What's next after becoming a Christian?

After that, you can go through the Obedience Challenge workbook, and if you want to continue to grow as a believer, then moving on to studying the holiness of God and our sanctification.
