TODAY'S COMMAND TO OBEY:

Today, we're looking at the command of Jesus to "follow me."

Matthew 4:19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” (NIV)

Luke 9:23-25 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. 25 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?" (NIV)

How can a Christian truly keep this command to follow Jesus? Watch the video above to learn how.

9 Minutes to grow in obedience to Jesus

Today's video is just a little longer, because I took an extra minute to try to clarify what it means to "take up your Cross" and follow Jesus. Watch the video above to learn how we can obey Jesus command to "follow me" in today's world.

What does it mean to become disciple of Jesus?

"Discipleship is the process of becoming who Jesus would be, if he was you." - Dallas Willard

Some Christians fixate on the moment of salvation & forgiveness, but then aren't sure what's next. But salvation is a gateway to discipleship. Discipleship means learning about Jesus in order to imitate him. If you are a brand new believer, or even if you've been around church a lot, you need to become a disciple of Jesus, not just a fan.

NewStart Discipleship is a program to help new Christians become disciples of Jesus -- to be transformed and become like Jesus.

If you're just getting started in your walk with God, you can also download the Obedience Challenge Workbook here.
